Communities In Schools of Peninsula is part of the nation's leading
community-based organization helping kids succeed in school and
prepare for life. Our mission is to connect community resources
with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school
and prepare for life through a partnership for success between students,
parents, schools and the community. On a broad level CISP coordinates
community resources and brings them directly into schools giving
kids direct access to the services that help ensure their success.
For example CISP may negotiate with a community
health agency to place one of its staff nurses directly into a particular
school one day a week to provide greater access to preventative
health care for all students.
What Makes CISP Unique?
Comprehensive Strategy: CISP brings to the
table all sectors of our community to develop a comprehensive plan
to address the needs of our young people. Our resulting programs
are based on the specific needs and existing resources of our community
and are therefore unique to our community; and while the programs
look different, the goals are the same - to fill the gaps so kids
get what they need.
Efficiency: Rather than impose an additional layer of
service, CISP coordinates existing community resources bringing
these resources directly into the schools to more efficiently and
effectively meet the needs of young people.
Community Building: CISP works to build stronger communities.
Through our locally driven, locally specific approach, our unique
process creates meaningful venues for all sectors of the community
to gather and exchange viewpoints, network and collaborate, and
contribute to a more active, more aware, more connected community.
Results: CISP offers a proven strategy to keep kids in
school - we track our performance and show measured results.
